To International patients seeking medical care in IUHW Mita hospital
Those with Japanese National Health Insurance
When you have a referral letter from a medical institution in Japan and would like to make an appointment, please contact us. When you do not have it from a medical institution in Japan, you are asked to pay 5,500 JPY (tax included) as a "fee for treatment of patients' choice", in addition to the first visit fee. Please give us a call to make an appointment.
Be sure to bring a residence card and Japanese National Health Insurance card on the day of scheduled appointment.
Those without Japanese National Health Insurance
- To those who live in Japan seeking medical care in IUHW Mita hospital.
You will be asked to pay 20 yen per 1 medical remuneration point.
When you have no good command of Japanese, be sure to arrange a medical interpreter.
We can provide a list of language interpreting agencies with cost if you need.(On-site English interpreter is available.) When you come to the hospital, be sure to bring ID card with photo. - To those visit Japan for a short-term stay of less than 3 months with the purpose of tourism and business
When you need to see a doctor for sudden illness, you are asked to pay 20 yen per 1 medical remuneration point. Be sure to bring passport when you visit our hospital. - To those who live outside Japan seeking medical care in our hospital
Referral letter from a medical institution, imaging reports, and lab results are required for a doctor to decide if your condition will be treated or not first. IUHW Mita Hospital ask all non-Japanese Health Insurance holder to make your appointment through Registered Medical Coordinators by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) or Japan Tourism Agency in Japan.
You cannot make an appointment or see a doctor without contacting one of Registered Medical Coordinators. you are asked to pay 20 yen per 1 medical remuneration point.

Arriving at the hospital
- For first-time patients
You will be asked to show
① your ID with photo (residence card or passport)
② Japanese National Health Insurance. We ask your nationality for data collecting purposes and the language you are most proficient in. - Please come to the outside clinic hours reception on Sunday, National holiday or at night.
Medical certificate in English
We can issue a Medical certificate in English. (11,000 yen per one sheet tax included) When you would like to use claim forms other than our hospital forms such as private insurance claim forms, please contact International Affairs Office regarding document fees.
If you would like to have documents in other language other than English, please consult International Affairs Team. Translating service agencies (with translating fees) list will be provided.
Registered Medical coordinator companies planning to send a patient for the first time.
Medical coordinator companies planning to send a patient for the first time must be registered with Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) or Japan Tourism Agency. We will inform our patients eligibility criteria for incoming patients. Please contact International Affairs Office at inter-mita@iuhw.ac.jp
